TITLE: Stress Engineer II (Job Code: PRG0404)
Research all relevant technical specifications, aircraft configurations and data to understand the loading environment and structural requirements and advise design engineering. Responsible for stress analysis, detail part sizing, and strength verification of primary and secondary aircraft structure, interior furnishings, and test articles using classical hand analysis methods and by interpreting results from finite element analysis and other means. Must have an understanding of load paths, stability of structure, and aircraft structural behavior. Must be confident with both classical and numerical (Finite Element) analysis methods. Coordinate with design engineering during design phase and review production drawings to ensure compliance with structural requirements. Coordinate with design engineering during design phase to ensure all necessary structural input to support drawing release. Generate formal weight estimates/reports, vibration analysis, stress reports, test plans, and finite element models. Review nonconformance reports to validate repair schemes. Provide accurate task completion reports.
Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in applicable engineering discipline plus 2 years of experience in the offered position or related position.
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in applicable engineering discipline and 5 years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in the offered position or related position.
Must possess expertise/knowledge sufficient to adequately perform the duties of the job being offered.
Expertise/knowledge may be gained through employment experience or education. Such expertise/knowledge cannot be “quantified” by “time”. Required expertise/knowledge includes:
Experience with finite element modeling (NASTRAN for Windows a plus) and hand calculation methods.
Experience in writing stress documentation and specifications to FAA standards.
Experience with MS Office and CAD.
Knowledge of composite manufacturing processes and tooling
OTHER: Job Site: Bellingham, WA. 40 hours/week; $73,341 - $83,308.40 per year. If offered employment must have legal right to work in U.S. EOE.
